BC family doctors: leading the way to better patient care

May 10, 2018

The GPSC is celebrating family doctors in BC, and around the world, with BC Family Doctor Day (in tandem with World Family Doctor Day) on May 19.

BC family doctors are leading and influencing the delivery of family medicine to ensure that their patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time.

For more than 15 years, family doctors have been participating in GPSC’s programs and initiatives, which support physicians to improve the way they deliver care to their patients, starting at the family physician’s office.

Now, doctors are bringing it all together with patient medical homes and primary care networks as central to an integrated system of care. With this work, physicians remain central decision-makers throughout the process in how the system supports their practices. And through their local division of family practice, doctors play a key role in shaping primary care in their communities.
