The College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC has announced changes to its physician search directory—specifically, removing the feature that allows family physicians to identify themselves as accepting new patients. Once the feature is disabled on March 1, 2018, patients who phone the College looking for a family physician will be referred to HealthLink BC. Patients living in communities in which the local division of family practice has a patient attachment mechanism in place will be directed to contact their local division (these 14 divisions have been contacted by the College and have agreed to be the point of contact for patients). Patients in other communities will be provided with a list of local walk-in clinics.
