2021-22 Influenza immunization program update from the Ministry of Health

Aug 23, 2021

The BC Ministry of Health released a 2021-22 influenza immunization planning update and a vaccine distribution Q&A. Last year, 1.5 million influenza vaccine doses were administered amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Physicians, other primary care providers and pharmacists were instrumental in the administration of these doses. This year, the Ministry of Health is targeting to provide approximately 2.5 million influenza vaccine doses to British Columbians.

The 2021-22 influenza immunization planning update includes important information on how the target will be achieved:

    • Plans and expectations for the 2021-22 influenza immunization program.
    • Role of community immunizers.
    • Changes to vaccine distribution in BC.
    • Consultation on vaccine distribution for publicly funded vaccines.
